3D Blister Inspection of Geometries and Volumes
The 3D product and blister inspection SPECTRA 3D is a high-resolution, laser-based inspection system for checking the geometry of films and preparations for undesired deformations of any kind, such as pressure marks, bulges or chipping. In addition to the geometry, the volume of the product is also detected, so that this method offers significantly more advantages over two-dimensional Inspection.
The inspection objects are illuminated by a laser and recorded with a high-resolution 3D line camera. The acquired image is processed and digitized and then the digital signal is processed and evaluated - optimal results thanks to SPECTRA 3D.
Highlights of the Three Dimensional Inspection Capability
SPECTRA 3D enables the safe inspection of the following cases:
- Double fillings stacked and side by side
- Fragments under and beside the product
- Split multilayer tablets
- Low contrast for example grey products in aluminium blister
- Powder in small quantities
A combination of SPECTRA 3D and other scanware inspection systems of the latest generation is possible on one platform. These can be controlled via a common terminal, thus providing clarity and saving space on the line. In addition, additional system equipment with hardware and software options is possible in many cases.
Application Areas of the 3D Inspection System
Examinable Objects:- Tablets
- Oblongs
- Hard and soft gelatine capsules
- Powder
- Aluminium pockets
- Plastic pockets after filling
- Multilayer tablets
- Presence
- Size
- Form
- Perimeter
- Position
- Fragment
- Overfilling
- Serial defects
- Height
- Volume
Further Possible Applications of 3D Blister and Product Inspection
Height detection with SPECTRA 3D can also be used for Braille recognition, Inspection of ampoules and inspection of folding box strips.
Unique Software for 3D Inspection of Pharmaceutical Products
The SPECTRA 3D software includes numerous highlights such as the display of format parameters and documentation. Reference and defect images are analyzed and product-related tolerances are set. The mask management is also controlled by the operator.
- The colour display of the evaluation expresses the altitude levels. Deeper objects are expressed in shades of red, higher objects in blue.
- The 3D representation of the evaluation can be rotated as desired to achieve the optimal view.
- Evaluation of powder bowls. By adjusting the algorithm for solids the volume calculation is very precise.
- 3D evaluation of a sealed blister to detect defects on sealing surface and pockets.
High-quality Hardware for Optimal System Use
The system is available in different designs for a wide range of conditions and requirements. There is a two-stage combination with a SPECTRA HR. In addition, a slim design with integrated colour inspection and line illumination is also available, enabling use even where installation space is limited.
